Yesterday was the feast day of Saint Catherine of Siena, the only lay Doctor of the Church, her great book the Dialogue, served as an inspiration for the posts I write. She was illiterate, and her book came to life by other people taking notes while she spoke. A mystic, and a celebrity of her time, to whom even the Pope listened to. Thinking about our times and values compared to the 14th century, when people admired those inspired by the Holy Spirit, today we admire people inspired by money.
Do not miss this beautifully made video by Bishop Barron on her life where in the 20th minute says:
St. Catherine was speaking to the Lord, which she often calls the Truth:
“Daughter, do you know who you are? And do you know who I am?” He said to her:
“You are SHE who IS NOT, and I am HE who IS.”
This is the reality of every creature on Earth. We thrive only because of the breath of love from God, the Holy Spirit that works in us, without that breath we die. We read this from Genesis 2:7-9(NIV): Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.
Our nostrils are open for breath of life when we seek the Truth, and not ourselves, this means we love the Truth, we listen to the Truth, and are on a life mission to serve the Truth: the triangle upwards to the sky is fulfilling the first Law of Love. The second Law of Love is served by the twelve fruits that we grow for ourselves and others: love, chastity, mildness and humbleness, faith, peace, joy, etc. Without that flow of Love, the Holy Spirit that we cooperate with there is no life in us, some sure signs being the fruits. Joy can not be missed for never satisfying money haunt, nor peace of mind, for worried and suspicious faces.
From Acts 17:
For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
The divine essence is not working against us, but with us, it sustains and builds more life in us, and the Law of Love Jesus left is not to take away from our freedom but to give more freedom to our life. It is God who is crazy in love with us and sustains life with his breath every second.
A creature that loves lies, moves his/her face away from the breath of Love and plays his/her mini-God play, which is never banal, or harmless but interrupts the mission, vision, and goal for his/her life as well as others around them leading to death:
The battle we are in is not a banal one, it is a life-and-death battle as we have witnessed in the last four years. The consequence of loving lies is DEATH. Instead, we can choose a heart-to-heart communion, a freindship with the Truth, as Bishop said in the 31st minute of this relaxing video.
